Tom has been around furniture and furniture stores since he was five years old. That's when he used to help his Dad, the manager of the furniture department, put handles on bedroom pieces at the White's Auto Store in Abilene, Texas. Tom was here May 30, 1971 when we first opened, so he's well acquainted with everything that goes on around here. He's a "shopkeeper" in the true sense of the word. And his most important job is keeping us focused on our vision of superior furniture value and excellent service.
When Tom's not at work, he likes to be involved in the community. He serves on several community boards, and is active in many ways at his church. His favorite time, though, is spent with his wife, Annette, his daughters, sons-in-law and especially his grandchildren.
OUR SALES CONSULTANTS
Dennis Burge, Store Manager
Dennis has been with us at McMinn's since 1993. As our Store Manager, he wears many hats, but you'll usually find him on the showroom floor helping our customers have a pleasant and informative visit to the store. Dennis is a native "New Yorker" who moved to Texas in 1975 (don't get a rope, he got here as quickly as he could!) He began his career in banking, where he eventually met Tom McMinn and his relationship with McMinn's Furniture began.
Outside of his work, Dennis is married to Diana and has three grown boys. He is the Music Minister as this church, and from time to time also plays keyboards in a rock band. But what he really likes best is spending time with his sons and their families.
Larry is a native West Texan who grew up in Lamesa. He moved to Odessa in 1971 after spending four years in the Navy, and has spent his career in various sales consultant positions, most of the time here at McMinn's (he left a couple of times for what he thought might be greener pastures, but he quickly discovered other places don't have as much fun as we do!) Larry is our resident "data-guy" who knows everything there is to know about how all the pieces of furniture we carry are put together. He's a great resource for our customers and all the rest of us, too.
Larry and his wife Brenda are active in their church and love to spend time with their children and grandchildren.
